CAPSTONE IDEAS

1. I want to do a dramatic high quality short film that is full of twist and turns.

2. I want to film a live play on stage and with an audience and without.

3. I would like to do a documentary about a children's theatre from audition to production

I was inspired by the film crash, brotherhood, and Chris's capstone which he showed no restrictions on his idea.

The only problem with a short film full of twists and turns is that it, often times, either turns into a long film with twists and turns or it gets too confusing...A short film doesn't give you a lot of time to develop plot and characters. BUT I am neither a script writer or a film student so this is purely opinion.

All that being said, I think it would be really neat to see the last idea play out. Get it? PLAY out. 'Cause it's theatre? Haha. :D But in all seriousness. I really like the documentary idea.

  2. I have a theater background from both sides of the stage. If you need a sounding board let me know.

The first idea sounds like a film on a roller coster lol
But seriously, I think a play on stage would be really interesting. I also like the documentary idea.

  4. Go with idea 1 or 2. You seemed very passionate when I heard you speak in class about making a short film... and passion is a good thing to have when doing a capstone. Idea 2 sounds unique and perhaps you could come up with a few interesting ways to film it... for example, instead of having all off stage cameras, maybe you could film on the stage in the middle of the characters (on a non audience night of course) and maybe even have a camera represent the first person view of a character.

  6. #2 could be a really cool idea to watch. But what would make it fit better is if you can find a way to mix New Media with the story. Somehow have video clips go along with the play, or find some way to use technology.

Maybe even mix improv and technology to come up with something really cool. Just a thought.

  7. I like the documentary idea the most. (idea 3) I always love the idea of opening the world's eyes to something that most may not have ever seen or known existed. It also lets the audience in to be personal with real people, instead of fictional characters.

  8. I really like your third idea. Children's theatre is a unique idea for a documentary. There are so many kids that are so talented so young and it would be really neat to see that process and how they live there lives.
